Hello! My name is Dr. Krista Bacon (she/her) and I am a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist. I specialize in understanding the effects of trauma, explaining them in a relatable manner, and promoting growth and empowerment in the here and now. I offer both clinical and forensic evaluation services, as well as keynote presentations, workshops, and skills training to groups and organizations.
Born in the deep South of the US, I lived there until I was nine years old, at which time I relocated to Washington state. I am a first generation college graduate, graduate school graduate, and business owner. In addition, I am a proud cycle breaker in my family.
My professional passions include topics such as identity development, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), resilience, intergenerational trauma, workplace wellness, adult children of emotionally immature parents, and supporting people through big life changes/transitions.
For my undergraduate studies, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Addiction Studies from Washington State University. Next, I enrolled in Pacific University’s School of Graduate Psychology, where I graduated with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a specialization in Forensic Psychology.
My graduate training spanned many clinical settings, including community mental health, forensic private practice, college counseling, and inpatient hospitals. I completed an APA-accredited internship at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, where I learned invaluable skills in both medium and maximum security prisons, as well as community corrections.
For postdoctoral training, I sought out multiple experiences. First, I worked at a forensic private practice completing court-ordered parenting capacity evaluations in Oregon. Second, I completed a fellowship in consultation and program evaluation based in Austin, TX. Lastly, she attended an APA-accredited fellowship with Kaiser Permanente in California working in the Maternal Infant Resilience program, a new cutting edge experience where clinicians work with medical teams and perinatal mothers to prevent the intergenerational effects of ACEs.
